Command Menu
The Command Menu is the Throttle app's power-user surface: a dialog that gives you in-place control of your running locomotives, quick access to settings that matter on the page you're viewing, and a search prompt for jumping to anything else. It's available on every page when you are logged in with a layout selected.
Opening It
- Menu button — the ☰ Menu button at the right end of the bottom navigation bar (on every screen size; on tablets and desktops the sidebar lists the same pages).
- Keyboard — press ⌘K (or Ctrl+K) anywhere in the app.
Quick Nav
The menu opens with a list of every page in the app — Home first, then each section in the app's nav order, one tap from anywhere. On phones the list fills the bar's width; on tablets and desktops it is a column that grows out of the bar's right end, with the search box pinned at the top while the list scrolls. It shows whenever the search box is empty, so the menu doubles as a full-app launcher before you've typed a thing.
Pinning: tap the ⚙ gear at the foot of the menu, beside your profile, to reveal favorite toggle chips — one per page, lit when it's pinned to the bottom navigation bar. Tap a chip to pin or unpin; when the bar is full, an unlit chip toasts "Bar is full" instead of pinning. The same chips live on the Settings page (Appearance → Favorites). Favorites always display on the bar in the app's nav order, not a custom order. The page list itself is tap-to-navigate only — it has no pinning gesture.
Drive From Anywhere
Driving your running locomotives in place has moved out of this menu: tap the layout strip in the app header (it shows how many cabs you're running) and use Your cabs in the shade that opens: mini throttle controls — one row per locomotive, with its address plate, name, a stop button, −5 / +5 speed buttons around the current speed, and an eject button to park it. Tapping a row jumps to that locomotive's full Throttle Control screen.
Settings That Know Your Page
The menu's Settings (⚙) always offers the essentials — Theme and, in dark themes, the page Appearance (background) — as inline cycle controls: tap (or use ←/→) to flip through options without leaving the menu. On pages with their own display options, extra rows appear right alongside them:
- Throttle / Throttles / Conductor — Show functions and Show consist toggles, plus Switcher control (Arc dial / Center slider) while your throttle style is Buttons, Slider, or Dial.
- Throttle (iPad and up) — Layout: cycle 1-up / 2-up / 4-up cabs per page.
- Throttles — view density (List / Compact / Comfy) and control (the throttle style).
- Conductor — Right panel: which modules fill the right column.
- Roster — density, view (Plate / Photo), and sort order.
- Turnouts, Effects, Signals, Sensors — view density and control style; Routes — view density.
- Track Diagrams — a New track diagram shortcut appears under Navigation.
The throttle style and the Analog / Digital speed display no longer have always-on rows here: set them from the Control and Display segments in the header of the Throttles and Conductor pages (or, on the Throttles page, the control row above).
There's no separate section to learn — page-aware settings are ordinary settings rows that come and go with the page you're on. Below the page and app rows, an "On your bar" section shows the same favorite toggle chips described above, a Send feedback row (when available) opens the same report-a-problem form as Settings → App — there's no floating feedback button — and a link at the bottom opens the full Settings page.
Search
At the bottom, a "What do you want to do?" prompt searches everything — pages, locomotives, actions. Type and press Enter to jump. Typing replaces the page list with live results. Search also finds the guided tour (type "tour" or "walkthrough" to replay it).
Visibility
The Command Menu is available on every page in the Throttle app as long as:
- You are logged in.
- A layout is selected.
